Alarm panels like 2GIG, Qolsys, and Alarm.com have limited Z-Wave capabilities depending on the Zooz device you're looking to add.
Alarm panels will typically only support single switches, door locks, select thermostats, and any authorized items on their list. We recommend reaching out to your alarm panel company or provider to verify compatibility and to get the latest on any device integrations they may be working on. Often times, they may even have a compatible device list available online.
Z-Wave devices will communicate from a hardware stand-point as long as they are Z-Wave certified, but it's the software in your controller that translates the signals and allows you to control or monitor a device from the interface. Alarm panels like to control the security part of the system so they don't support Z-Wave sensors or other multi functional devices connected to the panel. You'll be able to connect on/off devices, selected thermostats, light switches, and door locks to your system. Even though you may be able to add other devices, they may not display properly or give you access to the advanced settings and functionalities.
It's best to request a full list of supported devices from your alarm provider since it changes with every firmware update - you'll be able to review what's available and if the panel will serve your needs in terms of automation.
You can always give a device a try and see if your alarm panel supports it. If purchasing from The Smartest House, the Return Policy is 30 days from date of delivery. As long as items are returned unopened / like new in their original packaging, you'll receive a full refund. If an item is tested as fully functional in-house, but returned in a damaged or unsellable condition, a restocking fee of up to 30% may apply depending on the condition of the item. The item would need to be returned in its original packaging and not have any signs of damage or use (scratches, marks, etc). You would be responsible for return shipping. If purchasing from another authorized dealer, please refer to their return and refund policies.
If you'd like to have more flexibility with choosing devices for your smart home network, we recommend looking into an open Z-Wave controller like the Z-Box Hub, SmartThings, Hubitat, or Home Assistant. You can read more about the differences between Z-Wave systems here.
Please note that we do not have alarm panels set-up in-house to verify compatibility, but will be happy to answer any other Zooz related questions that aren't already answered in our Knowledge Base. Reach out to our support here!
