Why is My ZEN27 Dimmer Only Rated for 100W of LEDs?

Your dimmer comes with brand new methods of wiring multi-point set ups, making the wiring process much quicker and easier.

In order to accomplish this, your ZEN27 Dimmer uses two travelers to communicate with the regular on/off switches in multi-point control set ups (3-ways, 4-ways, and 5-ways - additional diagrams coming soon). In addition, the dimmer also uses MOSFET as the executive element to expand compatibility with LED bulbs. This dimmer now works with any dimmable LED bulb on the market - say goodbye to flickering! As a result, there just wasn't enough space to fit in the bigger hardware needed to control 15A.

Here are the maximum loads for the ZEN27 Dimmer Switch:

  • 100 W LED/CFL
  • 300 W incandescent (100W with both sides of heatsink tabs off)

It's never recommended to go over these maximums, otherwise your device will overload immediately or over time. Let us know if you're unsure if the lights you're about to connect are within the dimmers's specs, and if you have any other questions about your S2 Dimmer Switch!
