My ZEN30 Double Switch Works Manually but the LED Indicator is Off
print icon

By default, the LED indicators for both the dimmer and relay should turn off when the switch is on and on when the switch is off.

First thing's first: try manually activating the LED indicator mode. This is a new feature that allows you to manually change the LED mode without go through advanced settings, so it's possible that the indicator was disabled accidentally during set up or use.

Since the relay and dimmer in the ZEN30 are meant to be two separate devices, they have separate LED indicators. To try to enable the LED indicators for the light dimmer, tap the upper paddle 6 times quickly. To try to enable the LED indicator for the relay, tap the relay button 6 times quickly. If your Z-Wave hub allows access to advanced settings and parameter input, you can check and change the LED indicator mode via your hub's app.

If you're working with SmartThings, you'll have to install a custom device handler to enable full access to the switch's advanced settings. Once the handler is installed, here's how to enable the LED in the SmartThings app:

In the SmartThings app:

  1. Click on the Double Switch in your app
  2. Tap the three dots in the upper right corner of the app
  3. Tap Settings
  4. Change the setting to enable the LED indicator when the switch is on or off

If you're a Vera user, here's how to adjust the LED parameter settings in your Vera interface:

  1. Open your Vera online interface
  2. Click on the ZEN30 Double Switch
  3. Go to Device Options
  4. Click on "Add configuration settings"
  5. Put in the following:
    1. Variable = 1 (for the light dimmer) or 2 (for the relay)
    2. Data Size = 1 byte dec
    3. Desired Value for Light Dimmer and Relay = 0 – LED indicator is on when switch is off, LED indicator is off when switch is on (default); 1 – LED indicator is on when switch is on, LED indicator is off when switch is off; 2 – LED indicator is always off and LED’s don’t indicate brightness level during dimming; 3 – LED indicator is always on.
  6. Click on Save Changes

For Hubitat users, we recommend installing the custom driver found here.

And for Home Assistant users, you can find details about accessing the advanced settings of your ZEN30 Double Switch here.

If none of the above helped, or you don't see your hub system, let us know! We're always happy to help.
