The sensor will work great with SmartThings out of the box.
Here is how to add it to your hub in no time:
- Power the sensor up
- Tap the plus icon in the home screen of the SmartThings app
- Tap Device
- Tap "Scan nearby" (in the top right corner of the screen on Android and on the bottom of the screen on an iPhone)
- While the app says "Scanning...", click the Z-Wave button 3 times as quickly as possible (the LED indicator will start flashing)
- Follow the prompts on the screen to set your sensor up. It may give you a security error and ask for secure set-up in which case you can just tap on the Secure Set-up button and scan the QR code on the back of the sensor for secure inclusion.
*If you’re using an S2 hub, it will ask you to enter the DSK key or scan the QR code printed on the back cover of the sensor to complete SmartStart inclusion.
If your ZSE41 sensor is having trouble being added, give exclusion a try to help with any configuration or inclusion issues. It can be done even if the unit hasn't been added before:
- Tap on your hub in the home page of the app
- Tap the three dots in the top right
- Tap Z-Wave Utilities
- Tap Z-Wave Exclusion
- While the app is searching for a device, click the Z-Wave button 3 times as quickly as possible
- The app will indicate when the device is successfully removed. Tap Done.
We've included some screenshots of how the device displays for you with the Edge driver in SmartThings:
