If your ZEN72 Dimmer won't pair to Hubitat, you may need to exclude it first.
The exclusion process acts as a soft reset for your switch that can solve different inclusion or configuration problems. Your hub will confirm an “unknown” device was excluded which will allow you to then try and add it again.
However, please note that exclusion before inclusion applies to the 700 series and earlier chip sets. The 800 series devices will not exclude before they have been included; please factory reset the unit instead, then try inclusion again.
Confirm you have the latest version of Hubitat installed first.
Use these steps to exclude the ZEN72 from Hubitat:
- Open Hubitat in your Internet browser
- Go to Devices
- Click on + Add Device in the top right corner
- Click on Z-Wave
- Click on Start Z-Wave Exclusion
- While the device is searching for a device, tap the lower paddle 3 times as quickly as possible
- The app will indicate when the device is successfully excluded.
Once you've excluded the dimmer, include it to your hub with the steps shown here.
If you're still not having any luck pairing the ZEN72 to Hubitat, try some of these tips:
- Try excluding the device again in case the command didn't work the first time.
- When trying to include or exclude, tap the paddle 4-5 times as quickly as possible in case the switch isn’t recognizing the command in 3 taps.
- You may be experiencing range or connectivity issues if the switch is installed far away from the hub. Try adding a Z-Wave signal repeater (or any non-battery powered Z-Wave device) in between the ZEN72 Dimmer and hub to improve communication. You can also use a secondary hand-held controller, like a Z-stick, to pair the switch to the hub.
- If your ZEN72 was able to pair to Hubitat, but isn’t responding to remote commands, then you may need to go through these connectivity troubleshoots to resolve the issue.
