Range Extender powered up successfully? Let's add it to Hubitat!

For better user experience, we recommend the community driver.

You can add it to Hubitat following the step-by-step instructions here:

Smart Start Inclusion

On the Hubitat app:

  1. Open the Tools tab (wrench icon on the bottom)
  2. Scroll to the bottom, select Z-Wave
  3. This will take you to a screen where you can select either Smart Start or regular inclusion
  4. Select Smart Start
  5. This will take you to the smart start inclusion list. Devices will be displayed there that are in the process of inclusion through Smart Start.
  6. Select the QR symbol in the top right to open the camera for the DSK scan; scan the QR code printed on the plug.
  7. Power the device (important to do this AFTER QR scan)
  8. The device integration will begin. The window will appear asking you to name the device; click Save after naming
  9. Finishing inclusion may take a few minutes

If you have any issues with Smart Start Inclusion on Hubitat, please review this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sf-Fldjb0to. The steps should be the same whether you have a C-7 or C-8.

Manual Inclusion

  1. Plug the ZAC38 into a grounded, powered receptacle

  2. Open Hubitat in your Internet browser

  3. Go to Devices

  4. Click on + Add Device in the top right corner

  5. Click on Z-Wave

  6. Click on Start Z-Wave Inclusion

  7. While the app says is in inclusion mode, press the Z-Wave button 3 times very quickly (The LED indicator will start flashing green to confirm inclusion mode and turn green for 2 seconds once inclusion is completed.)

  8. Rename and confirm the found device

It's best to pair the ZAC38 from its target location to ensure the hub forms the most efficient communication route to the device. If you add it to the network near the hub and then move it to its desired spot, please make sure to perform a Network Repair to optimize connectivity. This will help your Hubitat hub find the strongest communication route to the device.

If your Range Extender is having trouble adding to your Hubitat hub, you can try excluding it first. The process can be done even if it hasn't been paired before and will help the ZAC38 configure properly so that it can connect to the network.

Please reach out to us if you need help adding the ZAC38 Range Extender to your Hubitat hub.
