Follow the steps below and you'll have your Power Strip added in no time!
The ZEN20 Power Strip is officially supported by SmartThings now, so the lua Edge driver is not required, but we recommend you install the custom Edge driver for the ZEN20 Power Strip. If you haven't added an Edge driver before, we've got you covered. The driver is essentially a piece of code that enables the ZEN20 Power Strip's advanced settings and makes sure the device is configured properly. The process takes less than 5 minutes - here's how to do it.
Once the Edge driver is installed, you can include the Power Strip to your network.
Here's how to include the Power Strip:
- Plug the Power Strip into a grounded receptacle you’re planning to use it at (it doesn’t need to be close to the hub)
- Tap the plus icon in the home screen
- Tap Device
- Tap "Scan nearby" (in the corner of the screen)
- While the app says "Scanning...", on the Power Strip, press the CH1 button 3 times very quickly
- The app will indicate when the device connects
- Tap Edit to rename the device, and tap Done to save the name
- Tap Done to complete the setup
* If you’re using an S2 hub, it will ask you to enter the DSK PIN or scan the QR code printed on the plug.
If you would like to have each channel display as a separate device in your SmartThings hub to rename them and control them from your smart speaker, please follow these steps:
- Click on the 3 dots in the top right corner of the device view in the SmartThings app.
- Click on Settings.
- Scroll down to enable Create Child Devices so that a separate device is created for each channel.
- The new devices will be automatically created under "No room assigned". There's currently no way to assign a room to child devices but you can rename them and control them from your smart speaker now.
To change any other settings in the app: once the driver is installed and the device is included to your SmartThings network, click on the relay in your app and tap the 3 dots in the top right corner of the app. Then tap Settings. There you'll be able to customize your device.
If you're having issues including your ZEN20 Power Strip to SmartThings, we'd recommend excluding the device using the instructions here.
If you have any questions about the process or you're experiencing issues, let us know!
