Once you've added the device to your hub with the correct Edge driver, it's time to program it. The Edge driver is required to program the ZEN37 Wall Remote on SmartThings.
Here are a few tips on making it work.
First, make sure your device was recognized correctly as the Zooz ZEN37 Wall Remote and displays with a remote control icon in the app. If it was added as a Z-Wave device and doesn't look like it has any capability in the app, please exclude it and try adding it again.
You can control devices and activate scenes using this remote by assigning custom actions to selected button triggers. Just click on the device in your SmartThings app and take a look at the list of available actions, then click on the ones that you'd like to use as triggers. Here is how the buttons on the device are organized:
If you need to edit or delete any of the programming, just go to the SmartThings app menu and click on Automations. Then find the action you'd like to remove on the list of your automations and press and hold it to delete.
If you install the Edge driver, you can also control other Z-Wave devices with this Wall Remote through direct association. This will establish a link between the device that will allow them to communicate even if the hub is down.
To program associations, you can follow the step-by-step process with screenshots here, or follow the basic steps below:
- Click on the Wall Remote device in your SmartThings app.
- Click on the 3 dots in the corner.
- Click on Settings.
- Scroll down to Device Associations and read the instructions and disclaimer carefully to finish programming the switch.
-
Choose the association group for the button you want to use and its functionality (on/off or dimming control):
- Group 2: Basic for on (button 1: top large button) and off (button 2: bottom large button)
- Group 3: Basic for on (button 3: small left button) and off (button 4: small right button)
- Group 4: Multilevel start level change (held) and stop level change (released) for buttons 1 and 2 (used for remote dimming)
- Group 5: Multilevel start level change (held) and stop level change (released) for buttons 3 and 4 (used for remote dimming)
- Group 6: Basic to toggle device on and off in sequence when button 1 is pressed
- Group 7: Basic to toggle device on and off in sequence when button 2 is pressed
- Group 8: Basic to toggle device on and off in sequence when button 3 is pressed
- Group 9: Basic to toggle device on and off in sequence when button 4 is pressed
Wake the device up by clicking the lower left button 6 times as quickly as possible to wake the device up. The LED indicator will stay on solid blue during wake-up and will turn off when the device turns the Z-Wave radio off again.
IMPORTANT: please make sure that the device you're trying to control is added with the same Z-Wave security level as the Wall Remote.
