Before including the ZSE70, decide whether you want to power the unit via battery or 12-24V AC/DC and if you'll be using auto or manual inclusion.
NEVER include the sensor powered with 12 V and then switch over to batteries. Your hub will recognize the sensor as a Z-Wave repeater and the batteries will drain quickly. Always include the sensor powered by batteries only if you’re planning to use it as a battery device.
Once you've selected and powered the ZSE70, you have two options to include the devices; auto inclusion or manual Inclusion.
Here's how to auto-include the device:
- In Home Assistant: open Configuration > Integrations > Z-Wave JS > Configure.
- Click on Add node.
- Click on Start Inclusion to initiate pairing.
- While the system is in inclusion mode, power up the sensor by either battery or 12-24V AC/DC:
- If you choose to power the unit with batteries, first twist the back cover of the ZSE70 counter clockwise to open it and access the batteries. Pull on the battery tab to power the sensor. The LED indicator will start blinking.
- If you prefer to power the ZSE70 via 12-24V AC/DC, first replace the bottom cap with the terminal seal. Unscrew the cap and connect 12-24 V wires to the terminals (follow polarity). Install the cover: gently mount the 3 pieces included in the box starting with the frame, then add the seal, and screw the cover on. You can scan the QR code in the manual to watch a video detailing how to install the 12-24V power source.
- The LED will start blinking and Home Assistant will confirm a successful inclusion
To include the sensor manually:
- In Home Assistant: open Configuration > Integrations > Z-Wave JS > Configure.
- Click on Add node.
- Click on Start Inclusion to initiate pairing.
- While the system is searching for a new device, click the Z-Wave button 3 times quickly
- Home Assistant will confirm a successful inclusion
Once the Outdoor Motion Sensor has been added to your hub, you'll be able to create rules for it, control it remotely, and customize it via the advanced settings.
Zooz products are now officially integrated with the new ZWaveJS integration of Home Assistant. If you're experiencing issues with accessing the advanced settings of your ZSE70 we would recommend first updating to the JS integration then excluding and re-including your device to your network in order for it to be recognized correctly.
If you are having issues adding the sensor to your network, the first thing to try is exclusion which is a type of soft Z-Wave reset.
Below are some screenshots showing how the ZSE70 should display in the Z-Wave JS integration:
