Let's try excluding the device first.
"Exclusion" is the general term we use for removing or unpairing a device from your system. Different hubs and brands will use different words for the same process. It may sound counter-intuitive, but exclusion is just a reset. A device doesn't need to be included to your system to be able to be excluded.
Here's how to do it:
- Bring your Z-Wave hub as close to the switch as possible
- Put your Z-Wave hub into exclusion mode
- While the hub is searching for a device, tap the LOWER paddle on the dimmer 3 times quickly to finalize the exclusion process
- Your hub should confirm that a device has been excluded
If that didn't work, it's possible some of the tips below will help:
- Try excluding the switch one more time. It's possible that the exclusion commands didn't go through initially.
- Try the inclusion process again, only this time instead of tapping 3 times, tap the upper paddle 4-5 times as quickly as possible. This can help make sure the commands are registered correctly.
- If you have a hand-held secondary controller, try bringing it closer to the switch and using it to include the Double Switch.
- Try adding a Z-Wave signal repeater (any non-battery powered Z-Wave device) between the Double Switch and hub to see if that helps communication.
- And if you find that your Double Switch is connected but it's not responded to remote commands, check out these tips for troubleshooting connectivity.
