If you're experiencing inclusion issues with your ZEN31 RGBW Dimmer, a good idea to try is excluding the device.
If you find that your RGBW Dimmer won't add to your hub, you can try to exclude, or remove, it first. Even if the RGBW Dimmer was never added successfully to your hub, you can still use your Hubitat app to remove the device and a notification will confirm that an "unknown" device was excluded. First, check if your hub is up-to-date on its version then, use these exclusion steps:
-
Open Hubitat in your Internet browser
-
Go to Devices
-
Click on + Add Device in the top right corner
-
Click on Z-Wave
-
Click on Start Z-Wave Exclusion
-
While the device is searching for a device, click the Z-Wave button on the device 3 times as quickly as possible
-
The app will indicate when the device is successfully excluded.
Once the process is completed, try pairing your RGBW Dimmer again using the steps shown here. If you're still unable to connect to your hub, please try these tips:
-
Perform the exclusion process again. Commands may not always register correctly on the first try, so another attempt could help.
-
Go through the inclusion process again, but instead of clicking the Z-Wave button 3 times, click it 4-5 times as quickly as possible, to see if that helps the device register the command.
-
If you're able to, add a Z-Wave signal repeater (any non-battery powered Z-Wave device) between the ZEN31 RGBW Dimmer and hub to improve communication. If you have a Z-Stick, or a hand-held secondary controller, try using it to pair the ZEN31. This is a helpful trick if the device is installed far away, which can cause range and connectivity issues.
-
Sometimes a device can connect but not respond to remote commands which may require trying these connectivity troubleshoots.
