You already know that your 4-in-1 Sensor comes with four individual sensors (motion, temp, humidity & lux), but how do they work?
This sensor is primarily designed as a security device, so it prioritizes motion events and notifications over the three other ambient sensors. The sensor will report motion since the last detection plus 15 seconds. After that, if there is no motion, it will report no motion until motion is detected again. But it will not keep sending motion alerts with every movement, because this would create hundreds of alerts.
While motion will always be reported right after it's detected, the fastest the sensor can probe the environment for temp, humidity, and lux is around every 3 minutes. This is intended to conserve the device's battery.
The sensor will always report temp, humidity, and lux levels based on change in value (so if you set the temperature change interval to value 20, the sensor will send a temperature notification to your hub every time the ambient temperature changes by 2 degrees). The 3-minute figure mentioned above only applies if you've changed the percentage change thresholds for the temp, humidity, and lux sensors to the smallest possible values through your Z-Wave interface. So the sensor will only report temp, humidity, and lux once the set thresholds are met, but once the threshold is met for one sensor it will report all of them to the hub. In addition, sometimes the reports will appear quicker than every 3 minutes depending when within that 3 minute break the actual change falls into.
As a battery-powered Z-Wave device, the sensor will often be "asleep" to save battery. But note that motion, temp, humidity, and lux reports will be sent to your hub regardless if the device is awake or not. It will always send these reports based on the other settings and thresholds you've put in place. Wake-up is only needed if any of the device's advanced settings are added or changed, or if the device is added to a scene or automation; wake-up ensures that these updates are registered by your hub. By default, the device will wake up every 12 hours to receive communication from the hub. But it can also be woken up manually if needed. If you've made changes to the device's advanced settings or added it to a new automation and you would like these changes to be immediately recognized by the hub, you should wake the device up manually. This can be done by pressing the Z-Wave button once with a paperclip. The LED indicator will flash once (blue or orange) to confirm that wake-up was successful.
