This is product is discontinued and replaced with ZSE70.

What does that mean?

There are two ways to include this sensor to Home Assistant: manually and automatically.

Here's how to auto-include the device:

  1. In Home Assistant: open Configuration Integrations Z-Wave JS > Configure.
  2. Click on Add node.
  3. Click on Start Inclusion to initiate pairing.
  4. While the system is in inclusion mode, power up the sensor by inserting the batteries or the USB adapter board
  5. The LED will start blinking and Home Assistant will confirm a successful inclusion

To include the sensor manually:

  1. In Home Assistant: open Configuration Integrations Z-Wave JS > Configure.
  2. Click on Add node.
  3. Click on Start Inclusion to initiate pairing.
  4. While the system is searching for a new device, click the tamper switch 3 times quickly
  5. Home Assistant will confirm a successful inclusion

*If you’re using an S2 hub, it may ask you to enter the DSK key printed on the back cover sticker to complete secure inclusion.

Once the Outdoor Motion Sensor has been added to your hub, you'll be able to create rules for it, control it remotely, and customize it via the advanced settings. To access of all the sensor's advanced settings and get full functionality, you will need to download the device specific code for it.

Zooz products are now officially integrated with the new ZWaveJS integration of Home Assistant. If you're experiencing issues with accessing the advanced settings of your ZSE29 we would recommend first updating to the JS integration then excluding and re-including your device to your network in order for it to be recognized correctly.

If you are having issues adding the sensor to your network, the first thing to try is exclusion which is a type of soft Z-Wave reset.

Once the sensor is added, note that it won't report motion via binary sensor. It will rather report motion via burglar notifications where values 0 and 8 translate to no motion/motion. Here's more about this from the HA community.
