Adding the ZEN34, or any Z-Wave device, may not always work on the first try - you may need to try excluding it first!
Exclusion is a process that removes the device from your hub controller, and can be done even if a device hasn't been added before. Here are the steps for excluding or removing the Remote Switch from your controller before you can pair it:
- Bring the ZEN34 within range of your hub or Z-Wave gateway to rule out any range issues.
- Put your controller into exclusion / removal mode.
- Click the lower paddle of the Remote Switch 6 times as quickly as possible.
- Your Z-Wave hub should confirm the device has been successfully excluded.
Once you receive the remote has been removed from your hub, you can go ahead and give inclusion another try.
Still having trouble pairing the ZEN34 Remote Switch? Try these troubleshooting steps:
- Make sure the battery tabs have been removed. You can refer to the manual for additional information about how to do this.
- Give exclusion another try! Commands may not also go through on the first round so it's worth repeating the steps to be sure.
- See if you can add the device without security (if your hub supports security features) or try tapping the upper paddle 6-7 times during inclusion.
