Can't Add My ZSE11 Q Sensor to Hubitat

If your Q Sensor is having trouble adding to your Hubitat network, then you need to try to exclude it first.

The exclusion process acts as a soft reset for any Z-Wave device, helping with any inclusion or configuration issues. You can do this even if the ZSE11 has never been included to Hubitat: it will simply confirm the exclusion of an “unknown” device. Before you try to remove the device, make sure your Hubitat platform version is up-to-date.

Use these steps to exclude the Q Sensor from Hubitat:

  1. Open Hubitat in your Internet browser

  2. Go to Devices

  3. Click on + Add Device in the top right corner

  4. Click on Z-Wave

  5. Click on Start Z-Wave Exclusion

  6. While the device is searching for a device, press and release the Z-Wave button 3 times as quickly as possible

  7. The app will indicate when the device is successfully excluded.

Once the process is complete and Hubitat confirms a device was removed, give the inclusion steps for the ZSE11 another try.

ZSE11 won't exclude or include? Give these troubleshooting steps a try:

  • Give the exclusion steps above a few tries in case the command didn't go through correctly on the first try. Or do it again pressing the Z-Wave button 4-5 times as quickly firmly as possible in case it isn't registering 3 clicks.

  • Add a Z-Wave signal repeater (or any non-battery powered Z-Wave device) to the network, installing it between the ZSE11 and hub. If you have a hand-held secondary controller, like a Z-stick, you can also use it to try and pair the Q sensor with your hub. Adding another signal repeating device to the network strengthens it, and helps the hub form a more efficient communication route to the sensor.

  • If your ZSE11 sensor adds to Hubitat, but doesn't stay online or respond to Z-Wave commands, then you should check out our connectivity troubleshooting steps here.

And if none of our troubleshooting steps helps resolve your issue, reach out to us! We'll be happy to assist.
