Will my Z-Wave hub work with the ZEN34 Remote Switch?
The Remote Switch was verified as compatible with the following Z-Wave systems:
- Z-Box Hub (recommended for all Zooz products)
- Alarm.com (can trigger scenes, not individual devices)
- Home Assistant (Z-Wave JS)
- HomeSeer (Z-Wave Plus or Z-Wave JS Front End)
- Homey (Zooz App for Homey)
- Hubitat (partial functionality, read more here)
- Indigo
- OpenHAB
- SmartThings
If you've tried the ZEN34 on a Z-Wave system other than those listed above, and confirmed it works well for you, please reach out and let us know! We'll be happy to add it to the compatibility list.
Will the device work with my alarm panel?
-
Alarm.com: Yes. Other alarm panels: No. Even though it looks like a switch, it's really a remote control with the paddles acting as buttons, so the programming requires support for central scene commands or direct association access, neither of which are currently supported on most alarm panels. Scene control as it refers to Z-Wave remote controls means the button functionality that's based on the central scene command class. The ZEN34 and other Z-Wave remote controls send button trigger events to the hub that can be used to activate another device or an existing scene. But, because alarm panels in general don't support this functionality as of today, they will not recognize the button events sent by our device and it's therefore not possible to program them like on other more robust hubs.
-
Most Alarm panels will typically only support single switches, door locks, select thermostats, and any authorized items on their list. We would recommend reaching out to your alarm panel company to verify compatibility and to get the latest on any device integrations they may be working on.
-
It would be up to your alarm panel to integrate the device, as it follows Z-Wave protocol and has been Z-Wave certified. There is nothing we can change on our end to have the ZEN34 be recognized fully; your alarm panel would have to support the integration. Read more about alarm panel compatibility here.
Can I connect the device directly to my Amazon Alexa, Google Home, or other smart speaker?
-
No. Smart speakers like Alexa or Google are not equipped with a Z-Wave chip and are not Z-Wave gateway controllers.
-
Smart speakers are integrated with certain Z-Wave hubs, like SmartThings or Hubitat, which is how you can have voice control of your Z-Wave devices from your smart speakers.
-
Without a compatible Z-Wave hub, no Z-Wave products will function correctly with Alexa or Google alone.
