Trouble adding your ZEN71 to Hubitat? We've got you covered!
Your ZEN71 may have never been included in your hub’s network, but that doesn't mean you can't remove it. The app will confirm a successful exclusion of an “unknown” device which will then allow the device to be added. Before going through with the process, make sure your Hubitat platform is up to date.
However, please note that exclusion before inclusion applies to the 700 series and earlier chip sets. The 800 series devices will not exclude before they have been included; please factory reset the unit instead, then try inclusion again.
Use these steps to exclude the ZEN71 Switch:
- Open Hubitat in your Internet browser
- Go to Devices
- Click on + Add Device in the top right corner
- Click on Z-Wave
- Click on Start Z-Wave Exclusion
- While the device is searching for a device, tap the Lower Paddle 3 times as quickly as possible
- The app will indicate when the device is successfully excluded.
After successfully excluding the ZEN71, use the steps here to try pairing it again.
If your ZEN71 still won't pair to Hubitat, take a look at these tips:
- It’s worth giving the exclusion process another try as the switch may not have recognized the commands on the first try.
- You can also try to pair the switch again, tapping the paddle of the switch 4-5 times, instead of 3, as quickly as possible to see if that helps the command process.
- Use a Z-Wave signal repeater (or any non-battery powered Z-Wave device) between the hub and ZEN71 to fix any range or connectivity issues. You can use a hand-held secondary controller, like a Z-Wave stick, to pair the switch with Hubitat in case it is installed too far away from the hub.
- If you see that your ZEN71 switch has been included but is not reacting to any Z-Wave commands, try these connectivity troubleshoots.
