Can't add the ZEN77 Dimmer to Hubitat? Maybe you need to exclude it first.

It may sound strange, but exclusion is just a reset. A device doesn't need to be included to be able to be excluded. However, please note that exclusion before inclusion applies to the 700 series and earlier chip sets. The 800 series devices will not exclude before they have been included; please factory reset the unit instead, then try inclusion again.

When you're ready, use these steps to exclude the ZEN77:

  1. Open Hubitat in your Internet browser

  2. Go to Devices

  3. Click on + Add Device in the top right corner

  4. Click on Z-Wave

  5. Click on Start Z-Wave Exclusion

  6. While the device is searching for a device, tap the Lower Paddle 3 times as quickly as possible

  7. The app will indicate when the device is successfully excluded.

When Hubitat confirms exclusion was successful, you can go ahead and try including the ZEN77 with these steps.

ZEN77 still not connecting to Hubitat? Give these other troubleshooting steps a try:

  • Trying excluding the dimmer again. This is helpful in case the commands didn’t go through the first time.

  • When following the steps for inclusion, try tapping the paddle of the dimmer 4-5 times as quickly as possible, in case it wasn’t processed in 3 taps.

  • The ZEN77 dimmer may be having trouble communicating with Hubitat if it is installed far away. You can add a Z-Wave signal repeater or another non-battery powered Z-Wave device to the network, between the switch and hub, to extend range. If you also have a Z-stick or hand-held secondary controller, you can use it to then add the ZEN77 to the hub.

  • If the dimmer was added but is not responding to any Z-Wave commands, then you may need to check out these connectivity trouble shoots.

If you've tried everything but your ZEN77 continues to have connection issues, you can reach out to us! We’re here to help.
