The ZEN05 Outdoor Plug can handle up to 960 W incandescent, 150 W LED bulbs, 15 A resistive loads, and up to 1/3 HP fan motors.
Make sure the load you are about to connect does NOT exceed the load maximums above. Connecting heavy duty equipment to the Outdoor Plug will damage the device and may cause the connected appliance to malfunction. This is an electrical device - please use caution when installing and operating the Outdoor Plug. Remote control of appliances may result in unintentional or automated activation of power. Do NOT use this Z-Wave™ device to control electric heaters or other appliances which produce the risk of fire, burns, or electrical shock when unattended.
DO NOT connect any other power strips or splitters to the ZEN05; each controllable outlet or channel on Zooz smart plugs and power strips is intended to power and control a single connected device. Do not connect power strips, outlet splitters, or other power distribution devices to any controlled outlet or channel.
Connecting multiple devices through a single outlet or channel changes the electrical characteristics of the connected load and may introduce simultaneous inrush currents, transient loads, or electrical noise that can cause abnormal operation or damage the device, even when the combined steady-state wattage is within the published ratings.
Using smart plugs or power strips as power distribution devices also increases the risk of overloading connected equipment and may conflict with applicable electrical safety standards, workplace safety policies, or local fire regulations regarding daisy-chained or cascaded power distribution devices.
DO NOT use the ZEN05 Outdoor Plug with any of these devices:
- Washers
- Dryers
- Refrigerators
- Electric heaters
- Motors over 1/3 HP
The devices above are simply too much for the Outdoor Plug to handle, or they're an incompatible load.
