Inclusion, also known as pairing or adding a device, is the process of connecting a device to your Z-Wave hub.
When you receive your new unit, you can expect to have no response from the device until it has been plugged in. Once it has been plugged in, it will begin to charge ad the LED will begin a slow blinking green, indicating it is ready to be included to the hub. This is the standard behavior for the device when not included to the hub.
Once you initiate inclusion, the LED indicator will change to a rapidly flashing green, which indicates inclusion or exclusion mode on the device.
Simply plug in your ZAC38 and ensure it is working manually, then follow the simple steps below to include the ZAC38 Range Extender to your Z-Wave hub.
Here are the steps to add the device to your system:
- Plug the ZAC38 Range Extender into the grounded 120VAC receptacle you plan to use it with
- Put your Z-Wave hub into inclusion mode (see your controller's device manual, as each brand is different)
- Press and release the Z-Wave button 3 TIMES QUICKLY
- The LED indicator will start flashing green to confirm inclusion mode and turn green for 2 seconds once inclusion is completed.
Once the Range Extender is added, you'll be able to create rules for it, and control it remotely.
* If you’re using an S2 hub, it will ask you to enter the DSK PIN or scan the QR code printed on the plug.
Trouble including the ZAC38 Range Extender to your Z-Wave network? Start by trying exclusion. This process can be done even if the range extender has never been included; exclusion is simply a hub-based Z-Wave reset, often resolving any connectivity or configuration issues.
