Once you've successfully installed and manually tested your ZEN73 On/Off Switch, the next step is to integrate it into your HomeSeer network. By doing so, you'll be able to automate and remotely control the switch. Follow these steps to effortlessly add your ZEN73 to HomeSeer and elevate your home automation experience.
Zooz products are officially integrated with the Z-Wave Plus and the Z-Wave JS Front-End of HomeSeer. If you're experiencing issues with accessing the advanced settings of your device or the unit not properly displaying, we would recommend first updating to the Z-Wave Plus or the Z-Wave JS Front-End, then excluding and re-including your device to your network in order for it to be recognized correctly.
You can choose whether you want to include the device as a mesh device or a Z-Wave Long Range Device (ZWLR). Please note that ZWLR devices cannot be programmed via Direct Association. ZWLR is a direct hub to device communication without the mesh or repeating devices.
Mesh Inclusion Steps
- In the HomeSeer UI: open the "Devices" tab.
- Click + sign at the top right of the page;
- Select "Z-Wave".
- Click "Continue" to put the hub in inclusion mode.
- Toggle the switch UP 3 times very quickly (LED indicator will start flashing)
- A window should then appear to allow you to select the supported security level; if S2A is selected, a new window will appear for pin entry.
- Follow the prompts to assign the device to a specific room/area and rename it.
- Double check the information and finalize inclusion by clicking "Continue"
If you encounter any issues including your switch to HomeSeer, try excluding it first. The process can be done even if the switch was never included and acts as a type of soft Z-Wave reset that generally resolves most inclusion issues.
Long Range Inclusion Steps
While HS has created an easy to use interface (from the Z-Wave Plus Plugin menu) that sits on top of zwaveJS, there is not yet a specific UI for LR yet. You can still add LR devices using the zwaveJS JS front end following the steps below. First you need to prepare the plugin for LR use.
- Enable the zwaveJS front end from the Z-Wave Plus plugin menu, settings.
- Make sure keys are created for LR S2. Select the zwaveJS front end from the Z-Wave Plus plugin menu then click on the gear icon and then expand the Z-Wave section. Click the arrows next to the 2 entries to auto generate the keys.
- Enable your Z-Wave inteface for LR. On the same page with the keys, look for the region setting and set it to USA (Long Range). You need to have a 700 or 800 series interface in order for LR to work.
- Click on SAVE on the bottom of the page
- You now need to restart the plugin as the keys and region will not be functional until you do that. Go to the HS plugins menu and toggle the Z-Wave Plus plugin off and then on.
- Now you can add devices.
- The only way to add a device with LR is with SmartStart. SmartStart requires that you enter the DSK of the device first, and then the device will be added when it starts its SmartStart inclusion process (normally at power on)
- In the zwaveJS front end click on the SmartStart icon on the left.
- Enter the QR code manually. To enter the code manually, click on the hamburger menu on the lower right of the page and then the + icon. You will see a form like this:
- Fill out the form completely and make sure you select Z-Wave Long Range for the protocol and check both S2 protocol boxes at the bottom.
- Click "Add"
- It will now be waiting for the device to add; power on the ZEN73 to initiate SmartStart
- You will see a dialog pop up when the device is added. Devices will start to add with node 256. If the node is 256 or higher, you know it was added with SmartStart. You will also see a different color icon in the zwaveJS device list (purple):
Once it is added it can be controlled like any other device. Note that LR devices are on their own network and will not participate in Z-Wave routing (no repeaters and no direct association programming).
If devices are not adding, make sure the interface is set for LR. Click on the control panel icon on the left to get to the device list. You should see 2 icons next to your interface:
