Exclusion is our go-to move for all configuration issues. You can exclude a Z-Wave device even if it was never properly included since it's just a type of reset.
First, let's try including the switch to Vera again. It should be included as a Generic Z-Wave device. Once inclusion times out, try the steps below:
1. Tap the green Retry button in the bottom right corner of the app - this will put Vera into exclusion mode.
2. Tap the LOWER paddle 3 times quickly.
3. Once exclusion goes through, Vera will automatically go back to the inclusion screen and start searching for the switch.
4. Tap the UPPER paddle 3 times quickly to include it.
If exclusion and re-inclusion didn't help, try these tips as well:
- Let's try exclusion again. It's always possible the exclusion commands from the first attempt weren't registered correctly.
- Try the inclusion process again, only this time instead of tapping the paddle 3 times, tap it 4-5 times as quickly as possible. This can help make sure the commands go through.
- If possible, try bringing Vera within direct range of the switch if you were at a large distance the first time. If you have a hand-held secondary controller, now is its time to shine!
- And if you find that your switch is connected but it's not responding to remote commands, here's your go-to resource for troubleshooting range and connectivity issues on Vera.
If you have any questions about anything above or find that these tips haven't helped your inclusion issue, don't hesitate to reach out! That's what we're here for!
