Exclusion is the first thing to try. This type of Z-Wave reset can help with a range of configuration issues.
Even if the device was never added to Wink successfully, you can still exclude it. The app should confirm that an "unknown" device was excluded. Here's how to do it:
- Click on Hubs
- Click on Settings (the three dots in the upper right corner)
- Click on your hub (most likely named Wink Hub)
- Scroll down to Settings and click on Z-Wave Controls
- Click on Exclusion Mode
- Tap the LOWER paddle on the dimmer 3 times quickly
- While the app will NOT confirm exclusion of the device, your Wink hub will go from blinking blue to a solid green light to confirm the device was successfully excluded. Wait for the LED indicator to turn green before exiting Exclusion
Once you receive confirmation of exclusion, try re-including the Double Switch to Wink. If exclusion didn't help, here some other things to try:
- We recommend trying exclusion one more time, just in case the commands didn't go through on the first try.
- Try including the Double Switch again, this time instead of tapping the dimmer paddle 3 times, tap it 4-5 times as quickly as possible.
- If you have a Z-Wave signal repeater available, try installing it between the Double Switch and hub. A Z-Wave signal repeater is any non-battery powered Z-Wave device (a Z-Wave smart plug, switch, relay, or even dedicated repeater). If the issue is one of range or a different type of interference, the repeater should help the hub stabilize communication with the Double Switch.
- If you have a hand-held secondary controller that you can bring near the Double Switch during inclusion, this is its time to shine!
- And if you find that your switch is connected but it's not responding to remote commands, here are some tips for troubleshooting connectivity issues.
