Exclusion should be your first move for all inclusion issues. You can exclude a Z-Wave device even if it was never properly included.
First, let's try including the MultiRelay to Vera once more. Follow the process shown here. Once inclusion times out, try the steps below:
- Tap the green Retry button in the bottom right corner of the app - this will put Vera into exclusion mode.
- While the system is searching for a device, click the Z-Wave button on the relay 3 times quickly
- Once exclusion goes through, Vera will automatically go back to the inclusion screen and start searching for the MultiRelay.
- Click the Z-Wave button on the relay 3 times quickly to include it.
If exclusion and re-inclusion didn't help, here are some other things to try:
- Let's try exclusion again. It's always possible the exclusion commands from the first attempt didn't go through.
- Try the inclusion process again, only this time instead of clicking the button 3 times, click it 4-5 times as quickly as possible. It's possible the commands weren't registered correctly the first time around.
- If you have a Z-Wave signal repeater available, try installing it between the MultiRelay and hub. A Z-Wave signal repeater is any non-battery powered Z-Wave device (a Z-Wave smart plug, switch, relay, or even dedicated repeater). If the issue is one of range or a different type of interference, the repeater should help the hub stabilize communication with the MultiRelay. Be sure to exclude the device after adding the signal repeater, and then try inclusion again.
- If you have a hand-held secondary controller, try using it to include the device from a shorter range.
