Excluding your ZEN21 could be the solution to including it.
This is product is discontinued and replaced with ZEN71.
Even if your ZEN21 Switch was never added to your hub’s network, you’ll be able to perform the exclusion process. The app will confirm a successful exclusion of an “unknown” device which will then allow the device to be added. Before going through with the process, see if the version your Hubitat is on is up-to-date, then use the exclusion steps below:
- Open Hubitat in your Internet browser
- Go to Devices
- Click on + Add Device in the top right corner
- Click on Z-Wave
- Click on Start Z-Wave Exclusion
- While the device is searching for a device, tap the Lower Paddle 3 times as quickly as possible
- The app will indicate when the device is successfully excluded.
Once you’ve given the exclusion process a try, pair the ZEN21 switch using the steps here. If you’re having difficulties pairing your smart switch, take a look at these tips:
- It’s worth giving the exclusion process another try as the switch may not have recognized the commands on the first try.
- You can also try to pair the switch again, tapping the paddle of the switch 4-5 times, instead of 3, as quickly as possible to see if that helps the command process.
- Another trick is increasing your network’s range with a Z-Wave signal repeater. This can be any non-battery powered Z-Wave device added between the hub and ZEN21 to fix any range or connectivity issues. You can use a hand-held secondary controller, like a Z-Wave stick, to pair the switch with Hubitat in case it is installed too far away from the hub.
- If you see that your switch has paired successfully but is not reacting to any Z-Wave commands, then browse these connectivity troubleshoots we found have helped other users.
