There are two ways to include the ZSE18 Sensor so make sure to follow the right steps!
Zooz devices are integrated officially with the new ZWaveJS integration of Home Assistant. If you're having trouble accessing the advanced settings of your ZSE18 Motion Sensor we would recommend first updating to the JS integration then removing and re-including your ZSE18 to your network in order for it to be recognized correctly.
You can add your Motion Sensor to Home Assistant manually or automatically. Here's how to do it:
To auto-include the device to the system:
- In Home Assistant: open Configuration > Integrations > Z-Wave JS > Configure.
- Click on Add node.
- Click on Start Inclusion to initiate pairing.
- While the system is in inclusion mode, twist the sensor’s cover counter-clockwise to open it. Remove the plastic battery tab from the battery compartment. This will activate the battery and put the device into inclusion mode.
- Home Assistant will confirm a successful inclusion and the sensor will appear on your device list.
To add the sensor to Home Assistant manually:
- In Home Assistant: open Configuration > Integrations > Z-Wave JS > Configure.
- Click on Add node.
- Click on Start Inclusion to initiate pairing.
- While the system is in inclusion mode, press the Z-Wave button 3 times very quickly (the button is next to the battery compartment)
- Home Assistant will confirm a successful inclusion.
Once the device has been added to your hub, you'll be able to create rules for it, control it remotely, and customize it via the advanced settings.
* If you’re using an S2 hub, it will ask you to enter the DSK PIN or scan the QR code printed on the bottom part of the sensor to complete SmartStart inclusion.
If you'd like to add your sensor to the system as a signal repeater powered by USB, you would press and hold the Z-Wave button for 5 seconds rather than pressing it three times quickly. Here's more about this.
And if you're having issues adding the device to your network, the first thing to try is exclusion which is a type of Z-Wave reset.
