ZEN17 not pairing to Hubitat? Give exclusion a try!
The exclusion process acts as a soft reset for any Z-Wave device and can often help the hub recognize the device faster and more easily after it's been excluded. You can exclude the Universal Relay from Hubitat even if it has never been paired before. Give the steps below a try:
- Open Hubitat in your Internet browser
- Go to Devices
- Click on + Add Device in the top right corner
- Click on Z-Wave
- Click on Start Z-Wave Exclusion
- While the device is searching for a device, click the Z-Wave button on the device 3 times as quickly as possible
- The app will indicate when the device is successfully excluded.
You'll want to wait for the hub to confirm the device was successfully excluded before trying to add it to your network again. You can find the inclusion steps here.
Here are some additional troubleshooting tips if your ZEN17 is having issues connecting to Hubitat:
- Try exclusion again in case the command did not register on the first try.
- Try adding the ZEN17 to Hubitat, clicking the Z-Wave button 4-5 times as quickly as possible instead of 3 in case the command isn't registering.
- Rule out any range or connectivity issues by adding a Z-Wave signal repeater (any non-battery powered Z-Wave device) between the ZEN17 and your hub. This is especially helpful if the relay is located in the garage, a location which can often come with range and connectivity issues, or in an area with a lot of glass or metal which can interfere with the Z-Wave signal.
