Make sure to have the sensor's new lua Edge driver installed to properly recognize the device and configure it in your SmartThings network.
Once you have the Edge driver installed, you'll want to exclude the device from SmartThings. The process is a type of reset that helps with most configuration issues. Even if your sensor was never included to SmartThings, you can still exclude the device. Here's how to do it:
- Tap on your hub in the home page of the app
- Tap the three dots in the top right
- Tap Z-Wave Utilities
- Tap Z-Wave Exclusion
- While the app is searching for a device, press and release the Z-Wave button three times quickly
- The app will indicate when the device is successfully removed. Tap Done
Once exclusion is confirmed, try including the sensor again following these steps.
If you're still unable to include your ZSE11 after exclusion, here are some other things to try:
- Give the exclusion steps another chance. Sometimes commands from the first run aren't registered correctly on the first try.
- During inclusion, instead of pressing the Z-Wave button three times, try pressing it 4-5 times as quickly and as firmly as possible.
- Try excluding and including the sensor right next to the hub. If it adds without issue, it's possible the previous spot was out of range.
- If powering the sensor by battery, double check that the battery inside the device is positioned and oriented correctly - we know it sounds unlikely, but trust us, this has solved the issue before!
