Can't Add My ZSE11 Q Sensor to Vera

Exclusion is a type of soft reset that can help with most inclusion issues. If your sensor won't pair, that's the first thing to try!

Put the controller into inclusion mode and once inclusion times out, try the steps below:

  1. Tap the green Retry button in the bottom right corner of the app - this will put Vera into exclusion mode
  2. Exclude the Q sensor by pressing and releasing the Z-Wave button 3 times quickly
  3. Vera should confirm the device has been successfully excluded

Note: When dealing with older firmware, just press the exclusion ("-") button on Vera and try the exclusion process outlined above (though we highly recommend updating to UI7 to take advantage of all the security, compatibility, and interface upgrades that come with the new software).

After the hub confirms the ZSE11 has been removed, try including the sensor again using the steps shown here.

If your sensor is still have trouble pairing with your Vera hub, give these other troubleshooting steps a try:

  • Give the exclusion steps another try! Sometimes commands from the first run aren't registered correctly, so it's worth trying.
  • When trying to include the sensor, try pressing the Z-Wave button 4-5 times as quickly and as firmly as possible in case the command isn't being registered in 3 clicks.
  • Bring the sensor closer to the hub, then exclude and re-include the unit. If it adds without issue, it's possible the previous spot was out of range. You can try adding a Z-Wave signal repeater (or any non-battery powered Z-Wave device) between the hub and the target location of the sensor so that the hub can form a more efficient communication route to the sensor.
  • If none of these steps has helped resolve the issue, or your sensor has included successfully, but isn't responding to Z-Wave commands then give these connectivity troubleshooting steps a try.
