If the battery has been activated, the sensor should light up in response.
If you insert the battery and see no LED activity whatsoever, first check that the battery is free of its plastic wrapping. It may not be obvious at first glance, but there's a thin plastic covering surrounding the battery if you have a sensor from our first production run. Removing both this plastic covering as well as the plastic battery tab may just be what it takes to get the sensor up and running.
If adjusting the battery doesn't help the issue, try performing factory reset on the unit. This type of reset can also be useful if you see LED activity but the sensor is unresponsive in other ways. If you're unable to wake up the unit, include it, or exclude it from your Z-Wave system, reset can help.
One last thing to check is a fresh battery. Sometimes batteries get depleted in transit or when stored in low temperatures for extended periods of times.
If the sensor is still unresponsive after trying the suggestions above, please let us know! We'll be happy to help.
