Inclusion doesn't always work on the first try - if that's the case with your ZEN32 Scene Controller, you should try excluding it!
You can remove the ZEN32 on the Hubitat app, even if it was never successfully included - the app should confirm an unknown device was removed. Just make sure you have the latest Hubitat verison installed.
Once you've checked your Hubitat platform is on the latest update, follow these steps to exclude your ZEN32 from Hubitat:
-
Open Hubitat in your Internet browser
-
Go to Devices
-
Click on + Add Device in the top right corner
-
Click on Z-Wave
-
Click on Start Z-Wave Exclusion
-
While the device is searching for a device, tap the switch button 3 times quickly (the LED indicator will start blinking blue)
-
The app will indicate when the device is successfully excluded.
After a successful exclusion, try adding the ZEN32 Scene Controller to your Hubitat network again. You can find the inclusion process here.
Still having trouble pairing your Scene Controller? Here are some helpful tricks to try:
-
Try excluding the switch again. Sometimes the exclusion command doesn't go through correctly on the first try.
-
When including the unit, try tapping it 4-5 times as quickly as possible instead of 3, in case the switch did not register the action correctly.
-
Bring the hub closer or use a hand-held secondary controller (like a Z-Stick) to see if that helps make communication easier between the Scene Controller and hub. You can also try adding a Z-Wave signal repeater (any non-battery powered Z-Wave device) between the ZEN32 and hub to rule out any range or connectivity issues.
-
If you were able to include the ZEN32 to Hubitat, but it doesn't respond to remote commands, take a look at these connectivity troubleshoots that may help.
