If you're having trouble adding the ZEN32 to your Home Assistant network then you should try excluding it first!
The process acts as a soft reset to help with any configuration or inclusion issues. You can exclude the ZEN32, and any Z-Wave device, even if it hasn't been added to the network before.
Use these steps to exclude your Scene Controller from Home Assistant:
- In Home Assistant: open Settings > Devices and Services > Z-Wave JS > Configure
- Click on Remove Device
- Click on Start Exclusion
- Tap the switch button 3 times quickly (the LED indicator will start flashing)
- Home Assistant will confirm that the device was removed, and you should now be able to add it to your system
Once Home Assistant confirms the device has been removed, try the inclusion process again to have it added to the network.
If your ZEN32 won't exclude, you can give these other troubleshooting steps a try:
- Try excluding the device again, but this time tapping 3 times, tap the switch button 4-5 times as quickly as possible. This can help make sure the commands go through.
- Add a Z-Wave signal repeater (or any Z-Wave device that doesn't rely on battery power) between the ZEN32 and hub. It will help the hub reach the Scene Controller in case of interference or range issues.
- Try bringing the hub or a secondary controller closer to the ZEN32 and try excluding and re-including the device.
- Lastly, if you were able to include the ZEN32, but are having trouble controlling it via Z-Wave, then you should try these steps for troubleshooting connectivity.
