If your ZEN32 has trouble being added or included, give exclusion a try first!
It may sound strange, but exclusion is just a reset. A device doesn't need to be included to be able to be excluded. However, please note that exclusion before inclusion applies to the 700 series and earlier chip sets. The 800 series devices will not exclude before they have been included; please factory reset the unit instead, then try inclusion again.
Here are the steps for excluding your ZEN32 Scene Controller:
- Put your Z-Wave hub into exclusion mode (see your controller's manual for details, as each brand is different)
- Tap the switch button 3 times quickly (the LED indicator will start blinking blue)
- Your hub should confirm exclusion; the switch will disappear from your device list
Once exclusion is completed, try re-including the switch to your hub.
If your Scene Controller is still having trouble communicating with the hub, here are some other things to try:
- Try excluding the switch again in case it didn't work on the first try.
- Press the switch button 4-5 times during inclusion in case 3 presses aren't being registered.
- Try bringing the hub closer to the ZEN32 and excluding/including it again. If you're successful this time then the original spot may be out of range.
