How to Add Your ZAC36 Valve Actuator to Home Assistant
print icon

Once you've successfully installed the ZAC36 on your water valve, you can pair it with your Home Assistant network. Always mount the device securely and calibrate it before trying to add the actuator to your Z-Wave system. The Titan will fit on valves up to 1.25". Is your pipe larger? Reach out to us about an extension kit for the ZAC36 to accommodate larger pipes/valves.

We recommend updating to the ZWaveJS integration of Home Assistant, if you haven't already, for best results. Zooz products are officially integrated with the JS integration of Home Assistant, which should give you access to all of the Valve Actuator's advanced settings.

To add your ZAC36 Valve Actuator to Home Assistant, use these steps:

  1. In Home Assistant: open Configuration > Integrations > Z-Wave JS > Configure.
  2. Click on Add Node.
  3. Click on Start Inclusion to initiate the process.
  4. While the system is in inclusion mode, tap the Z-Wave button 3 times quickly - it's a touch button so wait for a beep each time you press it (there will be no tactile feedback like on a push button).
  5. Home Assistant will confirm a successful inclusion and you'll be able to rename and control your device from the online interface.

*If you’re using an S2 hub, it will ask you to enter the DSK key or scan the QR code printed on the back to complete SmartStart inclusion.

Once the ZAC36 is connected to Home Assistant, you can schedule automations, turn it on/off remotely, and customize it to your needs via the advanced settings.

If the ZAC36 won't include to your network, please try excluding it first before trying to include it to Home Assistant again. Exclusion acts as a type of Z-Wave reset to help resolve any configuration issues:

  1. In Home Assistant: open Configuration > Integrations > Z-Wave JS > Configure.
  2. Click on Remove Node.
  3. Click on Start Exclusion.
  4. Tap the Z-Wave button 3 times quickly - it's a touch button so wait for a beep each time you press it (there will be no tactile feedback like on a push button).
  5. Home Assistant will confirm a successful exclusion and you should now be able to add it to your system.
