How to Add Your ZAC36 Valve Actuator to Vera

With your ZAC36 successfully installed and working manually, the next step is Z-Wave inclusion! The Titan will fit on valves up to 1.25". Is your pipe larger? Reach out to us about an extension kit for the ZAC36 to accommodate larger pipes/valves.

Follow these steps for including the Valve Actuator to Vera:

  1. Select the Devices tab in your Vera app. Then click on the gray "+ Add Device" button.
  2. Choose Generic Z-Wave Device from the device list.
  3. Click the Z-Wave button 3 times quickly (The LED will begin flashing to signal communication and will flash green to confirm inclusion).
  4. A new on/off Z-Wave device will appear on your device list. Click ON to close the valve and OFF to open the valve.

*If you’re using an S2 hub, it will ask you to enter the DSK key or scan the QR code printed on the back to complete SmartStart inclusion.

If you would like the Titan actuator to display as an open/close valve, please follow these steps:

  1. In the Vera online (browser) interface, select the sensor, then click on Advanced.
  2. Go to the Params tab and make the following changes:
    • device_file: D_WaterValve1.xml
    • device_json: D_WaterValve1.json
  3. Save changes and go back to your device list to see if the device now displays correctly.

If your ZAC36 is having trouble being included, then you may need to try excluding the device (even if it hasn't been successfully paired before). The process acts as a soft reset and usually solves any inclusion issues. Once inclusion times out, try the steps below:

  1. Tap the green Retry button in the bottom right corner of the app - this will put Vera into exclusion mode.
  2. Exclude the ZAC36 by tapping the Z-Wave button 3 times quickly (wait for a beep each time you tap).
  3. The LED indicator should start flashing. Vera will confirm the device was excluded in a message on top of the screen.
  4. Retry the inclusion process once again - Vera will automatically go back to the inclusion screen once exclusion is finalized so just go to step 3 from the pairing instructions above.

*Updated Disclaimer: We've seen several issues with Vera hubs properly recognizing and integrating 700 & 800 series Z-Wave devices. It seems that the mios and Vera systems are no longer updated or supported for new features and Z-Wave libraries as they're replaced with the new Ezlo platform instead.

Unfortunately, we've had to remove Vera hubs from our compatibility lists for this reason. We're not able to modify devices to accommodate older discontinued systems like these as we need to follow the current DSK for our devices to pass Z-Wave certifications and work well with active platforms that are up to date. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Send us a message if you're having trouble adding the ZAC36 to your network, or have any other questions!
