Having an issue including your ZSE41 Open | Close XS Sensor? Let's begin by excluding the unit.
Unpairing, disconnecting, and removing are all ways to refer to exclusion. This is a soft reset that can assist with a variety of configuration or connectivity issues.
800 series only: Exclusion before inclusion applies to the 700 series and earlier chip sets. The 800 series devices will not exclude before they have been included; please factory reset the unit instead, then try inclusion again.
Exclusion can be done even if the ZSE41 has never been included in your system.
- Bring the Sensor within 3 feet of your Z-Wave hub
- Put your Z-Wave hub into exclusion mode (see your controller's manual for details, as each brand is different)
- Click the Z-Wave button 3 times quickly
- Your hub should confirm exclusion and the sensor will disappear from the interface
Once you receive confirmation of exclusion, try adding the device to the system to see if that solves the issue. And if that still doesn't help, try these steps next:
- Try the exclusion process one more time
- Click the Z-Wave button 4-5 times quickly when adding it, or add it in a non-secure mode
- If you tried excluding/including from the installation location, try it again closer to the hub. If the second try is successful, the original spot may be out of range of the Z-Wave hub.
- It may seem unlikely but check the batteries, and make sure they're positioned properly (especially if you're not seeing LED activity).
Let us know if you're still experiencing issues; we're happy to help!
