So, you tried including your ZEN77 dimmer, and it failed? Start with exclusion!
"Exclusion" is the standard term we use for removing or unpairing a device from your Z-Wave hub. Different hubs and brands will use different words for the same process, such as removing or unpairing. It may sound strange, but exclusion is just a reset. A device doesn't need to be included to be able to be excluded. However, please note that exclusion before inclusion applies to the 700 series and earlier chip sets. The 800 series devices will not exclude before they have been included; please factory reset the unit instead, then try inclusion again.
Follow the steps below to exclude your ZEN77 S2 Dimmer:
1. Bring your Z-Wave hub as close to the switch as possible
2. Put your Z-Wave controller into exclusion mode
3. Tap the LOWER paddle 3 times quickly to finalize the exclusion process
4. Your hub will confirm exclusion, and the LED indicator on the switch will turn green for 3 seconds
If that didn't work, it's possible some of the tips below will help:
- Try excluding the dimmer one more time, tapping the lower paddle 4-5 times quickly. Maybe the exclusion commands didn't go through initially.
- If possible, try bringing the hub within direct range of the dimmer if you were at a large distance the first time. This will eliminate any range or interference issues.
- Try the inclusion process again, only this time instead of tapping 3 times, tap the upper paddle 4-5 times as quickly as possible. This can help make sure the commands are registered correctly.
- And if you find that your dimmer is connected but it's not responded to remote commands, check out these tips for troubleshooting connectivity.
If you've the steps above and inclusion is still unsuccessful, please let us know! We're happy to help.
