If you're having trouble adding the ZEN73 to SmartThings, the next thing would be to try exclusion.
The process of removing the device from SmartThings can be done even if it was never paired and will act as a reset to help configure the device. However, please note that exclusion before inclusion applies to the 700 series and earlier chip sets. The 800 series devices will not exclude before they have been included; please factory reset the unit instead, then try inclusion again.
Here's how to exclude the ZEN73 from SmartThings:
- Open your SmartThings app and locate your SmartThings hub under Devices. Tap the hub to see the device details.
-
Tap the three dots in the upper right hand corner and tap Settings
- Tap Z-Wave Utilities
- Tap Z-Wave Exclusion
- While the app is searching for a device, toggle the switch DOWN 3 times as quickly as possible
- The app will indicate when the device is successfully removed. Tap Done
Once the hub confirms a device was removed, try including the ZEN73 switch again.
Still can't add the ZEN73? Give the below troubleshoots a try:
- Try exclusion again in case the command didn't work on the first try.
- When excluding or including, try toggling the switch 6 or 7 times as quickly as possible. This can help make sure the commands take.
- Try adding a Z-Wave signal repeater (any non-battery powered Z-Wave device) between the switch and hub to see if that helps communication. If you have a hand-held secondary hub, try using it to include the device.
- And if you find that your ZEN73 switch paired successfully but is not responding to remote commands, here are some awesome suggestions for troubleshooting range and connectivity issues.
