Exclusion is the best troubleshooting step for any inclusion issues.
If you aren't able to include your ZEN77 dimmer to SmartThings, we recommend excluding it from the network first. The process will act as a soft reset to help with any configuration issues, and can be done even if the ZEN77 wasn't in the network before.
Give these exclusion steps a try with your ZEN77 Dimmer:
- Open your SmartThings app and locate your SmartThings hub under Devices. Tap the hub to see the device details.
-
Tap the three dots in the upper right hand corner and tap Settings
- Tap Z-Wave Utilities
- Tap Z-Wave Exclusion
- While the app is searching for a device, tap the LOWER paddle 3 times as quickly as possible
- The app will indicate when the device is successfully removed. Tap Done
Your SmartThings hub should confirm exclusion was successful before you can try including the dimmer again using the process described here.
Inclusion still not working? Try these steps next:
- Give exclusion another try in case the command didn't work the first time around. You can also try tapping the paddle 4-5 times as quickly as possible during either the exclusion or inclusion process. Sometimes the commands aren't recognized in 3 taps.
- You can try including a Z-Wave signal repeater (any non-battery powered Z-Wave device) between the dimmer and hub to see if that helps communication. If you have a hand-held secondary hub, try using it to include the device.
- If you were able to pair the ZEN77 but it isn't working via Z-Wave commands, then you can give these connectivity troubleshoots a try.
If the ZEN77 Dimmer won't add no matter what you try, please reach out to us!
