Trouble getting the ZEN74 to pair? Try the exclusion process first!

Excluding is a simple and effective process that acts as a soft reset to help with any inclusion and configuration issues. It can be done even if your ZEN74 was never successfully added to your Hubitat network. However, please note that exclusion before inclusion applies to the 700 series and earlier chip sets. The 800 series devices will not exclude before they have been included; please factory reset the unit instead, then try inclusion again.

Once you're ready, you can try the exclusion process below:

  1. Open Hubitat in your Internet browser
  2. Go to Devices
  3. Click on + Add Device in the top right corner
  4. Click on Z-Wave
  5. Click on Start Z-Wave Exclusion
  6. While the device is searching for a device, toggle the switch DOWN 3 times as quickly as possible
  7. The app will indicate when the device is successfully excluded.

Once Hubitat confirms exclusion was successful, try to include the ZEN74 with the instructions shown here.

If you're still not able to pair the switch, try these tips:

  • Try to exclude the switch again. It may not have been registered correctly on the first run.
  • Give the inclusion process another try, this time toggling the switch up 4-5 times (instead of 3). It’s important to toggle as quickly as possible to ensure the command goes through.
  • Try increasing your Z-Wave network range by adding a Z-Wave signal repeater (any non-battery powered Z-Wave device) between the ZEN74 and hub. It can help the switch communicate better with the hub and fix any range problems. You can also use a Z-stick or another hand-held secondary controller to then pair the switch with the hub.
  • If your ZEN74 switch paired and displays in Hubitat but is not responding to Z-Wave commands, then check out these connectivity troubleshoots that usually resolve the issue.

We’ll be happy to help if you're still not able to get the ZEN74 switch to work, so please don’t hesitate to reach out!
