Having trouble pairing your Smart Plug to SmartThings? Try excluding!
It may sound strange, but exclusion is just a reset. A device doesn't need to be included to be able to be excluded. However, please note that exclusion before inclusion applies to the 700 series and earlier chip sets. The 800 series devices will not exclude before they have been included; please factory reset the unit instead, then try inclusion again.
Here are the steps to remove the ZEN04 from the SmartThings app:
- Open your SmartThings app and locate your SmartThings hub under Devices. Tap the hub to see the device details.
-
Tap the three dots in the upper right hand corner and tap Settings
- Tap Z-Wave Utilities
- Tap Z-Wave Exclusion
- While the app is searching for a device, press the Z-Wave button on the device 3 times as quickly as possible
- The app will indicate when the device is successfully removed. Tap Done
Once the app confirms that a device was removed, please use these inclusion steps to try adding the ZEN04 to your SmartThings hub.
If your ZEN04 is still having difficulty being added, give these troubleshooting steps a try:
- Try the exclusion process once again. It's possible that the commands didn't go through correctly on the first try.
- Rule out any range issues by bringing the unit closer to the hub. If it includes successfully from a different spot, the previous spot may be out of range.
- Try pressing the Z-Wave button more than 3 times very quickly to ensure the command has gone through.
- Check out these other connectivity troubleshooting steps if your plug has paired but isn't responding to Z-Wave commands.
Send us a message if you have any other questions or still can't join the ZEN04 to your network.
