Having an issue including your new ZEN55 Smoke & CO Detector Bridge? Check that you have the lua Edge driver installed for the ZEN55, to ensure the device will be correctly recognized and configured on SmartThings.
Once you have verified that the proper driver is installed, you will want to start by excluding the device before including it. The ZEN55 can be excluded at any time, even if it has never been included to the hub! Exclusion is an easy way to provide a soft Z-Wave reset for the device. It is helpful in resolving any connectivity or configuration issues.
Important Note: A steady, blinking green is the standard state for the device; as long as the unit has power, it will blink green at a steady pace. The device has an internal relay, which can turn on and off with a click of the Z-Wave button. This means that when you are attempting to include or exclude the device, the clicks need to happen as fast as possible; if the clicks are not completed fast enough, the relay will engage instead and the device will not enter inclusion or exclusion mode. You will know you have clicked fast enough when the LED indicator begins flashing rapidly.
Exclude the ZEN55 Smoke & CO Detector Bridge from SmartThings following the simple steps below:
-
Open your SmartThings app and locate your SmartThings hub under Devices. Tap the hub to see the device details.
-
Tap the three dots in the upper right hand corner and tap Settings
-
Tap Z-Wave Utilities
-
Tap Z-Wave Exclusion
-
While the app is searching for a device, press the Z-Wave button on the device 3 times as quickly as possible
-
The app will indicate when the device is successfully removed. Tap Done
Once the hub confirms exclusion, you can try adding the device to SmartThings.
Is the hub or device not responsive to the exclusion process? Check out the steps below:
- Try exclusion again. It's possible that the command didn't go through the first time.
- Once you put SmartThings back into inclusion mode, click the Z-Wave button very quickly 4-5 times to ensure the command has gone through.
