Exclusion is the simplest way to resolve any inclusion issues! Just follow the simple steps below.
Exclusion can help with any inclusion or configuration issues. It acts as a soft reset and can be done even if your ZAC38 Range Extender has never been added to the network.
Here are the steps to remove the ZAC38 Range Extender from the SmartThings app:
- Open your SmartThings app and locate your SmartThings hub under Devices. Tap the hub to see the device details.
-
Tap the three dots in the upper right hand corner and tap Settings
- Tap Z-Wave Utilities
- Tap Z-Wave Exclusion
- While the app is searching for a device, press the Z-Wave button on the device 3 times as quickly as possible
- The app will indicate when the device is successfully removed. Tap Done
Once the app confirms that a device was removed, please follow these inclusion steps to try adding the ZAC38 Range Extender to your SmartThings hub.
If your ZAC38 Range Extender is still having difficulty being added, give these troubleshooting steps a try:
- Exclude the device once more. It's possible that the commands didn't go through correctly on the first try.
- Rule out any range issues by bringing the unit closer to the hub. If it includes successfully from a different spot, the previous spot may be out of range.
- Try pressing the Z-Wave button more than 3 times very quickly to ensure the command has gone through.
Send us a message if you have any other questions or still can't join the ZAC38 Range Extender to your network.
