Inclusion issues are common in the world of Z-Wave, but they're usually easy to solve.
It's time to try exclusion! Even if your Power Switch was never successfully added to SmartThings, exclusion is a kind of soft reset. It can helps with a variety of inclusion and configuration issues.
Here are the steps to try excluding from the SmartThings app:
- Open your SmartThings app and locate your SmartThings hub under Devices. Tap the hub to see the device details.
-
Tap the three dots in the upper right hand corner and tap Settings
- Tap Z-Wave Utilities
- Tap Z-Wave Exclusion
- While the app is searching for a device, click the Z-Wave button on the device 3 times as quickly as possible
- The app will indicate when the device is successfully removed. Tap Done
Once exclusion is completed, try including the ZEN15 Power Switch again.
And if that still didn't solve the problem, here are some other things to try:
- Try the exclusion process once again. It's possible that the commands just didn't go through the first time.
- Bring the Power Switch closer to SmartThings. If it includes successfully from a different spot, the previous spot may be out of range.
- Once you put SmartThings into inclusion mode, press and release the Z-Wave button very quickly more than 3 times to ensure the command has gone through.
- If you are trying to include the device as a secure one, please make sure your controller supports AES signal encryption.
If you're still seeing issues with the switch after exclusion and re-inclusion, please let us know!
