Give exclusion a try if your ZEN17 Universal Relay is having inclusion issues!
The process can help the hub find the device more easily by resetting it - and it can be excluded even if it was never included!
Ttry the steps below:
- Start the inclusion process to Vera once more (choose Generic Z-Wave device from the list) and wait for it to time out
- Tap the green Retry button in the bottom right corner of the app - this will put Vera into exclusion mode.
- While the system is searching for a device, click the Z-Wave button on the relay 3 times quickly
- Once exclusion goes through, Vera will automatically go back to the inclusion screen and start searching for the Universal Relay.
- Click the Z-Wave button on the relay 3 times quickly to include it.
If exclusion and re-inclusion didn't help, here are some other things to try:
- Give exclusion another try. Sometimes the command doesn't go through correctly on the first try.
- When trying to include the device, instead of clicking the button 3 times, click it 4-5 times as quickly as possible in case the command isn't recognized in 3 clicks.
- Add a Z-Wave signal repeater between the ZEN17 and hub. A Z-Wave signal repeater is any non-battery powered Z-Wave device (a Z-Wave smart plug, switch, relay, or even dedicated repeater). The repeater should help the hub improve communication with the Universal Relay if it's out of range or far away from other signal repeating devices. You'll want to exclude and re-include the ZEN17 after adding the repeater in order for the hub to recognize the additional device and use it to reach the relay.
- Give our connectivity issue troubleshooting steps a try if your ZEN17 is included but not responding to Z-Wave commands on Vera.
