Your ZSE42 Leak XS Sensor will work with Vera but it requires a little bit of manual configuration to display correctly. Keep reading for detailed instructions.
Follow the instructions below to pair the device:
- Power the ZSE42 Sensor up.
- Select the Devices tab in your Vera app. Then click on the gray "+ Add Device" button.
- Choose Generic Z-Wave Device from the device list
- Click the Z-Wave button 3 times as quickly as possible (the LED indicator will start flashing)
- A new generic device will appear on Vera's device list
*If you’re using an S2 hub, it will ask you to enter the DSK key or scan the QR code printed on the back cover of the sensor to complete SmartStart inclusion.
Change the device type manually so it displays as a water sensor:
- In the Vera online (browser) interface, go to Devices and tap the arrow next to the sensor for a detailed device view, then click on Advanced.
- Go to the Params tab and make the following changes:
- device_type: urn:schemas-micasaverde-com:device:FloodSensor:1
- device_file: D_FloodSensor1.xml
- device_json: D_FloodSensor1.json
- category: 4
- subcategory: 2
Your ZSE42 sensor should now display dry / wet status correctly on Vera.
Difficulties including the device? Perform exclusion steps with the sensor before trying the inclusion instructions again. The process acts as a soft reset to help with any configuration or inclusion issues. Once inclusion times out, try the steps below:
- Tap the green Retry button in the bottom right corner of the app - this will put Vera into exclusion mode.
- Exclude the ZSE42 by clicking the Z-Wave button 3 times as quickly as possible
- The LED indicator should start flashing. Vera will confirm the device was excluded in a message on top of the screen.
- Retry the inclusion process once again - Vera will automatically go back to the inclusion screen once exclusion is finalized.
*Updated Disclaimer: We've seen several issues with Vera hubs properly recognizing and integrating 700 & 800 series Z-Wave devices. It seems that the mios and Vera systems are no longer updated or supported for new features and Z-Wave libraries as they're replaced with the new Ezlo platform instead.
Unfortunately, we've had to remove Vera hubs from our compatibility lists for this reason. We're not able to modify devices to accommodate older discontinued systems like these as we need to follow the current DSK for our devices to pass Z-Wave certifications and work well with active platforms that are up to date. We apologize for any inconvenience.
